Nutritions role in good health
Nutrition plays an essential role in the maintenance of good health. Throughout life we gain energy for all body functions from the food and drink we consume. Correct nutrition will therefore always help to optimise well being and relieve illness that may result from inappropriate diet.
It is well known that, in general terms, a healthy diet includes a balance of protein, carbohydrates and fats, including the required combination of fibre, vitamins and minerals. However, various medical conditions can often be alleviated by the adoption of specific nutritional programmes. There is no single magic diet or nutritional formula because each person is different and has a set of individual requirements according to a multitude of factors. The old saying may literally be true in the field of nutrition: One man’s meat can be another man’s poison.
